Our thoughts continue to go out to Aucklanders, especially those hit hardest by the flood damage. Auckland Transport (AT) is continuing to do everything we can to restore the transport network and keep Aucklanders moving.

We are continuing to see impacts to Auckland’s transport network due to the severe weather event. Further red and orange weather warnings have been issued for Auckland over the next few days

Network tidy up and site assessments continue. Within rural areas, the soil saturation is a significant challenge in trying to clear some slips. I would like to thank our road maintenance crews that have been working all hours to clear debris and drains, open roads and take care of urgent maintenance.

All our signalised intersections are up and running.

We urge Aucklanders to take extreme care when travelling on the network, consider whether your travel is necessary and plan your full return journey - taking note of weather forecasts.

The transport network is operational, with some remaining road closures and reduced service frequency on public transport services. Journey times will be extended on both the roading network and public transport.

The transport network status for tomorrow Tuesday 31 January 2023. Information is correct at 18:00 Monday 30 January:

Auckland’s public transport network will be operating with some service reductions and additional journey times:

  • Bus services operating to normal timetable - including rail bus replacements - at around 90 per cent capacity targeted.
  • Train services operating with reduced frequency and extended journey times due to track speed restrictions:
    • Eastern Line services will run between Manukau and Ōtāhuhu only. Customers will need to disembark at Ōtāhuhu and transfer to Southern Line services to the city centre.
    • Southern Line services will still run from between Papakura and Ōtāhuhu to Britomart, via the Eastern Line, on a 20-30 minute frequency.
    • Western Line services will not operate to Britomart from tomorrow (Tuesday) until further notice - due to an additional slip risk at the Parnell Tunnel. Services will operate between Newmarket and New Lynn at a 20 to 30-minute frequency with buses operating between Newmarket and Britomart. Customers will need to change trains at New Lynn to travel between New Lynn and Swanson. KiwiRail has teams in place working to secure this section of the network.
    • Rail bus replacement services are still operating on the Onehunga Line and between Newmarket and Otahuhu on the Southern Line - due to the KiwiRail Rail Network Rebuild stage 1 works.

Ferry timetable changes:

 The following changes will be effective on Tuesday 31 January and Wednesday 1 February - with the potential to be extended if necessary.

  • Devonport and Waiheke Island will move to a 60-minute timetable.
  • Hobsonville Point, Half Moon Bay and Birkenhead/Bayswater will operate on weekend timetables.
  • Gulf Harbour services will be cancelled, diverting to alternative transport for the remainder of the week.
  • Rangitoto Island and Rotoroa Island services are cancelled until the State of Emergency in Auckland is lifted.

 Auckland’s road network will be operating with some road closures and additional journey times:

  • The arterial road network is operational with some lane restrictions.
  • Red wind warnings for Auckland Harbour Bridge tomorrow evening means there is the potential for a bridge/lane closure.
  • More work has been done to clear our roads. There are now only 25 roads closed across the region. The latest list of road closures continues to be updated on the AT website; we recommend drivers avoid the following roads:
    • Mill Flat Road
    • Tahekeroa Road
    • Ahuroa Road
    • Great North Road (Waterview)
    • College Road/Victoria Street/Beaumont Street
    • Shoal Bay Road (GBI)
    • Scenic Drive
    • Glenvar Road
    • Wiri Station/Roscommon Road intersection
    • Otititori Road (Titirangi)
    • Sherwood Drive (Patumahoe)
  • All parking facilities are fully or partially open.

With more rain and winds predicted overnight and tomorrow, we may see further late cancellations, delays and disruptions.
