PTM Consultants signed up for Fareshare in May 2024. After moving from a suburban office with available parking spaces to Auckland’s CBD, the team had to quickly adapt to taking public transport.

‘At our Mount Eden offices, the majority of PTM staff had employer-paid on-site parking, and the rest were able to use on-street paid parking. The move back to the CBD removed these parking options, so the team were stoked when the company offered to partly fund their public transport costs to and from our new home on Albert Street.’

Working for Auckland Transport in the infrastructure planning space, PTM were keen to make the change and encouraged further by the Fareshare subsidy.

‘With Fareshare, we’ve progressed from close to zero to close to 100% of the team now commuting on public transport. Given that we’re consultants in traffic, transportation and roading engineering, taking public transport has also been invaluable in deepening and broadening our empathy with AT’s customer base.’

Simon says the onboarding process was simple and easy to follow.

‘No one reported any problems signing up, and everyone already had a registered AT HOP card, which was extremely helpful. We will complement our Fareshare public transport subsidy with a Cityhop car-sharing account for when staff need a vehicle for site visits during the business day.

‘The team has transitioned really well from car-based commuting. One team member has already sold their second car, and another is actively contemplating doing the same.’
